KOBELCO

INTRODUCTION TO KOBELCO

KOBELCOThe history of Kobelco dates back to 1905 when Suzuki Shoten, a Japanese trading firm, acquired a steel business called Kobayashi Seikosho in Wakinohama, Kobe. That business became Kobe Seikosho which is now known as Kobe Steel, Ltd, is now a major Japanese steel manufacturer but operates worldwide under the KOBELCO brand.

The company’s construction business, formerly known as Kobe Steel Construction Machinery Division, founded in 1930 with the development of the 50K electric mining shovel, was renamed KOBELCO Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. in 1999 and became recognized as an independent entity from Kobe Steel.
